EMPTY ZEN
Beyond your conception yet within zen
Watching the landscape your heart sees through
Thus emptiness contains both heaven & earth

Important Tips on How to Get an Oriental Massage
A "MUST-READ"
1. Do not have massage right after you have a full meal, or a hot shower or jacuzzi.
2. Do not use red or other bright colors to decorate the walls of the massage room. It will raise your blood pressure and it will do harm to your body when receiving massage. Please avoid using red sofas, red sheets or dress as well.
Red color is also against the spirit of "zen", which means inner meditation and tranquility. In Chinese Fengshui theory, red color means blood and shall not be used in a zen style spa or massage rooms. It is also against western Christian tradition to use red color in day spas or massage establishements.
3. Avoid disturbing TV shows or any other disturbing talking or noise. Keep yourself in a "think-of-nothing state. If you do want to watch something, I recommend those dvds made for spas. Those natural sound like birds, flowing water, or rain combined with the beautify of gardens or landscape do bring you relaxation.
4. For foot spas, always use a liner to prevent spread of foot disease. If the spa forgets to use the liner, please remind them at once.
5. When receiving massage, keep your talk at minimum, and when the therapist positions your legs or arms, do not give help.
6. It is not recommended to receive more than 2 hours of massage in a single day.
7. Take plenty of water after massage to help drain the lactic acid and other toxins from your body.

CHINESE MEDICINE PROHIBITS HOT BATH FOR MASSAGE
Oriental massage is based on Chinese acupuncture theory. The purpose is to unblock the Meridian Channels in your body, so as the "chi", or life force, can flow freely. It is a very sophisticated process which will usually last one hour to make it really work. During this process, your tissue will be filled with more blood and will become tender, and your nerves become much more active. At the same time, those invisible channels throughout your body will work with your nerves and blood network to fight the "evil energy", which is normally called pain, soreness, joints problems, or any other ailments.
Chinese medicine prohibits "hot bath" for massage. A hot bath, in American sense, can be various things: a hot spa, sauna, Jacuzzi, hot tub soak, hot shower, etc.
It is highly recommended that the client shall not take a “hot bath” at least two hours prior to the massage, or, two hours after the massage. The hot bath will damage your tissues, and give complication to the nerve system. It will be contradictory to the meridian channel management process.
We recommend you take a light, quick warm shower before or after the massage. If you do need a hot bath, Jacuzzi, wait for at least two hours after the massage. And remember: drink plenty of water after the massage before using your hot bath. This will help your body to return to its normal state, and help it to detoxify as well.

Year of Tiger: How to Achieve Good Fortune & Good Health
“Palace” needs to give huge thanks to all of our royal patrons during the past week—the week for the Chinese New Year and the Valentine. Our therapy service has broken record in both of our spas:
I have received a lot of request asking about the year of the tiger, so the following short article, I hope, will bring you some benefits in this New Year!
What is the Year of Tiger
There are twelve earthly branches, starting from the rat. Then it is the ox, then the tiger. According to ancient myth, they were appointed by Shijiamoni, the
1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010.
What A “Tiger” Should Do in His or Her Year
For this person, both good energy and bad energy will fight to dominate, so one must exercise extra caution to avoid troubles, and use good faith and meditation to bring good energy to its extreme.
In
What All People Should do
According to I-Ching, in year 2010, there could be a water shortage for the world, and refugees could roam. Saving water will be everyone’s task.
2010 will bring great benefit to the “East” and the “West”. Business or homes with doors opening to the east or west will receive better fortune.
On the contrary, it will bring bad energy to the “North”, and the “South”.
So if you plan to open a business, do not choose the location with the door opening to the north or south. If you already did, do the following:
Keep your door closed, or hang a yellow, gold, or sparkling curtain to ward off bad energy. Move your office desk; let it face east or west. Do not let it face north or south. If you are unable to move it, put plants with yellow/golden leaves to attract good energy.
Great fortune comes from the east in the Year of Tiger. Use plants to attract good energy: plants with yellow/gold leaves or stripes. Put them on the east side of your room, preferably near the window. An “east room” in a house will be the perfect place.
The foyer: this area is called “Xuan Guan”, where both good energy and bad energy tries to occupy. Use bonsais (symbolizing long life and good fortune), and plants with yellow/gold colors to bring good Fengshui.
In the Year of Tiger, meditation becomes more important. It purifies one’s mind so no bad energy can affect you. Remember, you have good things hidden in the west or east. Good luck to you all!
